After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand essential basics for safe and effective application of systems for functional electrical stimulation (FES), as well as have got some critical insight in actual applications, risks and limitations.
The course content is dynamically adapted to most recent research activity and relevant actual international trends and is focused on restoration of movement, including both non-invasive and implantable solutions. The first half of the course offers theoretical introduction and interactive consideration of advanced basics that are necessary for better understanding of complex applications. The other half of the course is dedicated to familiarization with practical applications with FES systems ("Hands-on").
The content is given by a balanced mixture of plenary lectures, elaboration of specific topics among students, their presentation and moderated critical discussion among colleagues, and practical hands-on sessions on studied methods in guided self-attempts.
