After successful completion of the course, students are able to identify failure characteristics based on visual examination, metallurgy, fractography and mechanical tests and to unambiguously derive failure causes on construction components
Material failures of productions plants will be presented, which are focused on mechanical and thermal overload, corrosion, selected welding problems, applied materials science and fracture mechanics. Further applied testing methods and corrective measures for failure prevention are covered.
