Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to perform and document self-reliant engineering, design, and development tasks in the field of pressure vessel design according to a given goal.

Subject of course

 

Diverse topics of pressure vessel design – mainly focused on:

  • Stress analysis, Design-by-Analysis
  • Design of pressure vessels or details
  • Integration of pressure vessels in plants

Within the project, appropriate CAD- and FEM- software is used.

Teaching methods

Every student gets a problem of the field of pressure vessel design. The student has to solve the problem and to document the solution.

Because assistance is given when necessary, it is possible to agree appropriate time to start the lecture. For administration, please register before March 31st.

Examination modalities

A written report must be submitted at the end of the project work. The course is assessed on the basis of the written report. If the submitted report is negative and it is possible to make corrections with reasonable effort, the lecturer can set a reasonable deadline for corrections.
Attendance: Appropriate meetings (normally at least five) are required. Appointments can be arranged individually and are possible both online and on-site.
