After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand architecture and space, to analyse locations with regard to their spatial qualities, to grasp the parameters of drafting and design and to derive knowledge for their own design work.
The content of this course is the analytical preparation and the visit to a specific selection of locations that display a special relationship between architecture and space. The confrontation with cultural attitudes and especially with unfamiliar perspectives on architectural space will be practised in the excursion in order to be able to analyse, document and evaluate the architectural quality of these locations. The focus of this semester is on building methods in clay, brick, stone, concrete and wood in their massive form. Selected works by Marte.Marte, Christian Bartenbach, Ernst Beneder, Eladio Dieste, Hannes Sampl, James Turrell, Bernardo Bader, Roland Rainer, Friedrich Kurrent, Fritz Wotruba, Anna Heringer, Martin Rauch, Andres Lepik, Ulrike Tinnacher and Innauer Matt will be visited.

On-site visits and presentations, analysis and documentation of the visit and discussion.
Preference is given to participants from the Design RG and the Interior Design module.
The excursion will be conducted in small groups of 3-5 persons. The presentation of the visit and the discussion on the project will take place on Zoom.
