After successful completion of the course, students are able to work scientifically and to analyse and present arguments and connections to post-war modernism and monument preservation. The elective seminar opens up a broad professional horizon that enables students to understand the relevant requirements of monument conservation today and to grasp the part expected of those working in the field of architecture. In the elective seminar students learn the basics of scientific work, i. e. they carry out independent research in archives and libraries, apply direct and indirect quotations correctly, present on site and write a seminar paper The elective seminar challenges students to sound out their self-competence, to assess their individual inclinations and interests and, with regard to their future professional activities, to sharpen their values, critical faculties and special responsibilities.
The basics of scientific work are learned in the seminar and applied in the preparation of the seminar paper.
