This semester, the course is offered in conjunction with the module Cultural Spaces

The Cultural Spaces module will be carried out in the summer semester 2024 as research-led teaching as part of a project:

Cultural Landscape Inventory Hallstadt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut

Understanding the architecture of a place requires a range of documentation methods. The course offers the opportunity to get to know different types of software in order to analyse data collected during a field research campaign.

Images, films, sound recordings and survey data are collected for the inventory. Depending on your interests, this data can be analysed in different formats:

  • 3D models of groups of objects that are combined to form a site model
  • Orthophotos of facades
  • Façade mappings of streets for monitoring purposes
  • Data summaries in a GIS

The data is compiled in advance as part of an excursion. The data is then processed during intensive days (to be arranged with the lecturers and students).

Teaching methods

    • Theoretical introduction to data analysis
    • Practical introduction to various software packages
    • Support in analysing the data in the various software packages
    • Supervision during the preparation of the results
