The perception and interpretation of architecture and built environment is indispensably dependant on the cultural background of the viewer.
Architecture is understood as an international language. The understanding and interpretation of architecture is influenced by the individual background and history of the viewer.
Within the frame of this lecture the possibility to deal with different cultures is provided. The task is to raise the awareness that a building can only be understood and designed in combination with its environment and its history.
This semester the course has 3 different topics:
Either
* The as a Complimantery Course to the Module Cultural Spaces (251.749).
OR
* World Heritage Site Neusiedler See/Fertö
Since 2001 the cultural landscape around Lake Neusiedl is registered on the list of the World Heritage Sites. In this course, the importance of the UNESCO World Heritage List will be explained. The focus is laid on the discussion about the impact of the label World Heritage has on the region and in particular to the architecture.
Away from the controversial discussion about the World heritage Site Vienna the importance of the outstanding universal value, authenticity and integrity will be highlighted in the course. On this basis, the aim is to study the compatibility of preservation of architectural traditions and the development of new architectural language with a corresponding local character.

Within the framework of the LVA, an intensive FILMICAL discussion can be carried out on the basis of a freely chosen object or place.
The projects are divided into a theoretical and a practical part.
This LVA refers to the research of background material and the preparation of treatment for a short documentary film.
The practical preparation of the film is done in the LVA 251169 Recording and presentation of architecture.
