Aim of course

... is the discovery of new form principles in architecture

Subject of course

The façade lost its function as the right side of the house. We do not need autarkic, proportioned, vertical walls as the edge of architecture. The façade shall be designed in a totally different way that offices, flats, shops and garages do not posses common windows and doors. Hence ordinary houses are reflecting the image of a façade, the regarded/ demanded design shall transport good vibes to the environment; the content of the pot architecture shall animate. The accessible and projectable façade shall function and lived as extended space - architectural shell as free space.

Examination modalities

The process of the course alleges the following hand offs: working process = presentation 1. Concept 2. Design 3. Constructive design 4. Detail Plans have to be presented in the format of A1 on hard carrier material. In the first presentation the concept will be presented on panel 1 . The second presentation presents panel 1+ 2 (concept + design) a.so.. In the last presentation all panels (1+2+3+4) have to be presented and will be pre-graded. Finals marks are given on basis of a digital hand over - CD-ROM. Digital hand over comprises the content of all presentations including a booklet. Marking criteria: --design idea, concept --construction (logic usage and implementation of materials, dimensions, logic understanding of a modular constructive system) --functional use --space differentiation --reaction to climatic and topographical circumstances --formal composition
