Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • discuss hydraulic steel component  select hydraulic steelwork components according to their use
  • develop and design hydraulic steelwork components and define the main points of intersection with other specialist areas
  • recognize special features of hydraulic steelwork components

Subject of course

The course deals with the various designs of gates from a hydraulic steel engineering perspective (trash racks, sliding and rolling gates, fish-belly gates, segment gates, lock gates, etc.) and uses examples to work out the advantages and disadvantages of the individual gates and control devices.  Subsequently, calculation principles, structural design of hydraulic steel structures, special problems in hydraulic steel structures (sealing, aeration, cavitation, ice), drives, control and regulation, corrosion protection, flow-induced vibrations are dealt with.

Teaching methods

Die Vorlesung Stahlwasserbau wird in Präsenz abgehalten.
