Properties

Basics of applied and theoretical research in PET (Privacy Enhancing Technology). Practical assignments accompany the lecture.

Introduction and motivation for PET
Systems for online anonymity (remailer, darknets, P2P, onion routing)
The Onion Router (Tor, hidden services, attacks, proper use)
Transport Layer Security (TLS - HTTPS, STARTTLS, PKI, attacks, incidents)
Internet censorship (Great Firewall of China, examples from other countries)
Web Privacy (tracking, fingerprinting, browser Add-Ons)
Crypto Tools (PGP, OTR, ZRTP, mobile messenger)
Algorithmic privacy (guest lecture from Prof. Stefan Katzenbeisser, TU Darmstadt)
