After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the basic theoretical concepts applied in visualization. In addition, they are able to solve programming tasks in visualization.
ATTENTION: The LVA '186.827 Visualization 1 VU 3.0 (WS)' [1] will take place for the last time in 2023W.
Because of the curriculum change [2] the two LVAs '188.917 Information Design & Visualization VU 3.0 (SS)' and '186.827 Visualization 1 VU 3.0 (WS)' will be combined to the new module 'Visualization VU 6.0 (SS)'. If you have already completed the course 'Information Design & Visualization VU 3.0 (SS)', you only need to complete the course 'Visualization 1 VU 3.0 (WS)' for the new module 'Visualization VU 6.0 (SS)'. You have the last opportunity to do this in 2023W.
If you have already completed '186.827 Visualization 1 VU 3.0 (WS)', you will have the last opportunity to complete the course '188.917 Information Design & Visualization VU 3.0 (SS)' (as part of the module 'Visualization VU 6.0 (SS)') in 2024S.

The lecture visualization gives an introduction to the concepts of scientific visualization, information visualization, and visual analytics. Didactical approach: topic is divided into sub-structures and presented with electronic slides.
In the lab part programming assignements are used to practically implement theoretical concepts of visualization. Didactical approach:
Lecture slides and recordings of the lectures can be found on TUWEL.
ECTS breakdown: 3 ECTS = 75 hours
