The main topic of the course are wireless automation systems. They offer higher flexibility than wired systems but save costs for cabling. Additonally, extension of existing networks is facilitated. With an increased popularity of wireless solutions, also the demands on the communication protocols increase. Especially robustness and efficiency are of concern in networks with high node count. Also security aspects must not be neglected as unsecured wireless systems are prone to attacks. The lectures will present relevant wireless standards. Based on the information obtained, small exercises have to be solved in practice. In parallel, a paper regarding certain aspects of wireless communication in automation has to be written and revised.
Written examination, lab exercises, home work
