The methods presented in course 142.340 will be practiced by solving exercises both at the blackboard and by writing programs (preferably, but not necessarily, in Python).
Descriptive statistics; elementary introduction to probability; discrete and continuous random variables and their properties; estimation of unknown parameters from random samples; confidence intervals; statistical testing of hypotheses; introduction into Bayesian statistics; linear models and regression.
The course starts on November 9, 2018, preparatory meeting on October 5. Attendance of course 142.340 is required.
42 exercises will be given, each one counting 2.25 points. Special points may be awarded in case of extraordinary participation during the courses (maximum 2 points per course).
