Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the following:

  • How to compute the relative orientation of two (uncalibrated) images without any initial values.
  • Which decisions must be taken in the course of a bundle block adjustment (image measurements, initial values, iteration stopping criterion, distortion model, datum, ...) and how they influence the result.

Subject of course

  • Programming a photogrammetric task in Matlab (or Octavia) exploiting projective geometry
  • Computation of a bundle block adjustment

Teaching methods

  • Implementation of a photogrammetric solution from scratch in the software package Matlab (or Octavia)
  • Building a photogrammetric workflow using Python scripting in an existing photogrammetric framework
  • Testing the implementations using real data (given and/or acquired by the students
  • Working in groups of 3 persons
