E-mobility has developed into a trend in Europe with a potential to support certain transport policy objectives. Amon these objectives are the reduction of local CO2 emissions and other exhaust emissions, and the reduction of dependency on fossile fuels.
However there are also risks at stake. A large city like Vienna with its high share of public transport trips needs to have in mind that the introduction of individual e-mobility solutions do not rival the excelent public transport system.
In e-Mobility on Demand e-mobility solutions will be practically introduced in the form of business car fleets and car sharing systems. The accompanying scientific research of driving profiles, user behaviour and user acceptance will lay a foundation for a large scale implementation of e-mobility solutions.
