Research funding project

The Wiener Stadtwerke Holding AG and the Vienna University of Technology set up a joint interdisciplinary doctoral programme entitled ¿Urban Energy and Mobility System¿. The aim is the development of scenarios for a "sustainable, affordable, livable and resilience city¿ (Smart City) with focus on the City of Vienna. For a future-proof energy supply the enhancement of Vienna as a Smart City has come in the focus of Wiener Stadtwerke AG. Because of the upcoming challenges it is most important to set up a foresighted strategy which includes technological development, managerial decisionas well as differentiated knowledge of the current and future customers. One important outcome should including statistic and calculation model to give a clear picture of the demographic change, mobility habit of citizens and changing lifestyle over a time scale. The long-term project reflect the particular importance to advance Vienna as a location for business and technological progress.

The PhD programme starts in fall semester 2013/2014 and offers 10 predoc-positions for students at the Vienna University of Technology in the fields of ¿energy systems of the future¿ and ¿new mobility¿ for a period of 3 years with the aim of completing a PhD.
