Homogeneity and stress effects in coated conductors

01.01.2010 - 31.03.2012
Forschungsförderungsprojekt
This project addresses the following issues: 1. Commercially available 2nd generation coated conductors are characterized. 2. The strain dependence of coated conductors is investigated with a newly developed device allowing in-situ measurements of the critical currents and their angular dependence under strain at liquid nitrogen temperature. 3. A modified Hall scanning device is employed to characterize these conductors under self field conditions and to study new concepts for high amperage conductors, e.g. Roebel cables. Based on these techniques and studying in addiation the response of these conductors to neutron irradiation, important development work for their possible application in future fusion devices will be achieved.
