WITT - An Interactive Training Tool for Dissemination of Best Practice in Waste Reporting and Management All organisations produce waste and are increasingly likely to be asked for evidence as to the quality and quantities of these wastes. Production of a waste report, based on an effective waste management system, is the best way to communicate this information. To facilitate the implementation of best practice in waste management and waste reporting, an interactive CD-ROM based training tool for the management and minimisation of non-domestic wastes was developed by a group of 15 European partners. This will help to create a common structure for the development of waste management plans within companies across Europe and improve/facilitate compliance with European waste management legislation. The material contained on the CD has the compilation of a waste report as central to it. It also provides training, as instruction, exercises, examples and templates, to help implement a waste management system. Although developed with Small and Medium sized organisations in mind, it is equally applicable to larger organisations. The CD contains English, German, Romanian, Slovakian and Italian versions of the material, representing best practice from across Europe. The material is presented in discrete stages, allowing organisations to implement a system incrementally. The structure allows organisations to concentrate only on those sections that are relevant to their situation. For some organisations, mainly those with a waste management system already in place, merely filling the sections of the report will be sufficient. The material covers all aspects involved in implementing, reviewing and auditing a waste management system, including compiling a waste report. We gratefully acknowledge the funding of the project by the EUs Leonardo da Vinci Programme (Contr.-Nr. UK/01/B/F/PP/129_423, WITT) Beispiel und Contact: http://www.money4waste.org
