Education Quality Improvement by E-learning Technology

The project duration was September 1, 2005 - January 31, 2009. The project consortium included 5 partner institutions from Croatia and 8 partner institutions from the European Union. The project was approved and funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Tempus programme. The project grantholder was Vienna University of Technology, Austria, the project co-ordinator was University of Zagreb, Croatia. The total project costs were 486031 EUR incl. the grant amount of 459646 Euro. Project objectives: - To improve quality of university education by implementation of e-learning concepts and technologies; - To develop general (policy) framework and technical framework for implementation of e-learning methodologies and technologies in Croatian universities, through transfer and adjustment of experience, best practice and knowledge from EU universities to HR; - To shape and establish at Croatian universities e-learning support centres and networks of experts to foster and facilitate e-learning projects; - To demonstrate appropriate usage and to promote e-learning as powerful tool for improvement of university education. Project outcomes: - The staff members of the Croatian partner institutions have been trained in the area of e-learning at the EU partner institutions; - 6 workshops on e-learning were organised and the workshop proceedings were published; - 6 issues of project newsletter "E-ucenje / E-learning" were published and disseminated; - Each Croatian partner university developed and adopted a strategy for the implementation of e-learning; - Each Croatian partner university established a Centre/Office for E-learning as well as a university e-learning platform: - e-learning platform Merlin at University of Zagreb, - e-learning platform Duel at the University of Dubrovnik, - e-learning platform Mudri at the University of Rijeka; - Equipment necessary for the development of the e-learning activities at the Croatian partner universities has been purchased and installed; - Studies and Guides concerning implementation and use of e-learning in university education were developed and published; - Several e-learning courses were developed and organised with the support of the Centres/Offices for E-learning established within the project.
