For the prevention of accidents especially data about damage only accidents in an electronic readable form are neccessary. The country of Burgenland and the Austrian Ministry of Transport have ordered the encoding and data unput of accidents by the Institute for Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering. The data of the years 2002, 2003 and 2004 on highways and rural roads in Burgenland should be collected and recorded to the accident data bank.
