Forschungsförderungsprojekt
The CENTROPE region, strategically located in the heart of the ¿New Europe¿, is one of the most dynamic economic regions in Europe. In contrast to Western Europe¿s saturated mar-kets, Eastern Europe offers enormous growth opportunities, with an economic expansion rate of up to five percent anticipated over the next few years. So this region offers enormous advantages to globally active companies. The rapidly growing demand of skilled workers, industrial engineers, academically educated engineers and managers was the reason to initiate the technology academy Vienna region that offers education and training. The ability to change, to network, and to adapt production and logistics is a critical success factor in this region. The innovative approach of this project is it the creation of a platform for education and train-ing which promotes the transfer of know-how, technologies and experiences within the re-gion. The main part of this platform will be the creation of a virtual manufacturing system where students from all education ranges, partner schools, universities, universities of ap-plied science and partner enterprises will have the possibility to get a combination of theo-retical and practical education. In this so called ¿model factory¿ skills of production planning and control, logistics and supply chain management, maintenance management and quality management can be trained in a realistic manufacturing environment. The model factory addresses the needs of students of industrial or mechanical engineering, young engineers close to embarking on working life or industrial employees whose qualifications need updating.
