Systematic Test of Embedded Automotive Communication Systems
01.09.2003 - 01.01.2008
Forschungsförderungsprojekt
Automotive electronic systems like brake-by-wire and steer-by-wire will enable a boost of advanced and improved driving functionality due to inter-operation of current stand-alone applications. The challenges related to the development of suitable network architectures are currently subject of intensive research. The aim of the project is to address the arising problems for the system integration of these applications: (1) the inter-operation of the distributed nodes tremendously increases the complexity of these systems (2) the use of these systems in safety-critical domains imposes the need for highly accurate testing and diagnosis strategies. Within the project, special focus is set on the communication subsystem -- the core component of these highly interactive distributed systems. The important innovation of the project is to develop a novel integrated methodology for systematic test and diagnosis. Starting with a profound requirements and concept analysis performed by senior researchers, prototype methods and tools will be specified and implemented. BMW and DaimlerChrysler are involved in the project to bring in concrete customer requirements. Feasibility studies will be performed on a demonstrator setup to verify the concepts. The diagnosis and testing methodology for systematic tests will provide a solid basis to analyze and verify future by-wire systems in respect to communication properties. Future products based on this methodology will give OEMs and automotive suppliers the necessary tools to identify possible problems and to ensure the correct behaviour of the communication subsystem.
