Measuring of Air Concentration and Noise exposure in the daily sphere of children

01.10.2005 - 31.12.2006
Auftragsforschungsprojekt
Aim of the analytical investigation is to measure air concentrations and noise levels in relevant living spheres of children. A special attention shall be given to the effects of air concentrations which are a result of the product of concentration and duration of exposure. Children are reacting - out of physiological reasons more sensible to air concentrations for instance there can be diagnosed changes in heart rates, minute volume and lower resisting power. Also raised noise levels might lead to physical and psychical problems regarding children or to intensify existing problems. Therefore prevention of air concentration and noise loads is most essential for children. The study shall nail down the actual exposure of children regarding air concentrations and noise and shall work out possible measures to enhance the situation. Measurements will be done in different life situations of childrens, as pedestrians, passengers of cars, in schools or parks (leisure time activities). To be able to point out differences between different types of streets in addition traffic counts and measures of speeds have to be done. The lenght of time of the influence of different loads will be examined by questionnaires at schools. Additionally general datas to mobility of children will be taken into account.
