Fail-Safe Magnetic Bearings for Flywheels with High Storage Performance and Energy-Transfer-Rate
01.08.2010 - 31.12.2013
Forschungsförderungsprojekt
In order to avoid a flywheel-rotor crash comprising high costs or even danger to the surroundings, a fail-safe magnetic bearing shall be developed. The main goals are the development of a special hybrid bearing, a motor/generator design and control causing minimal bearing forces, use of the stator windings as additional backup bearing and self-sustaining power supply of backup active magnetic bearing systems.
