Forschungsförderungsprojekt
The aim of the project "Robust And Distributed Safety-Improved Traffic Telematics" (ROADSAFE) is to improve the robustness of Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) telematics systems and to demonstrate these improvements by on-the-road tests. Robustness is a key issue regarding the safety aspects of vehicular communications: The data transmission over the wireless link must be reliable, timely, and secure. The service infrastructure must be able to cope with a large number of clients which are quickly moving between the road side units (RSU). The user interfaces in the cars need to warn the drivers of possible dangers without distracting them from driving. In the previous project REALSAFE, we identified various shortcomings on the different layers. This project aims to improve robustness on all communications layers, from the bit transmission on the wireless link, over the data forwarding between the RSUs, up to the user interfaces.
