Impacts of innovative technologies on commuters of the "East region" (Vienna, Burgenland, Lower Austria)

01.11.2008 - 31.01.2011
Assigned research project
The project PENDO investigates the effects of technological innovations on the basis of commuter traffic of the ¿East region¿. For this purpose based on existing studies, regional statistical data and questioning a simulation model concerning the mobility behaviour of commuter traffic will be carried out. The results of this basic research may be used to develop innovative traffic solutions and be drawn for assessment procedures. With raising energy prices in the last month mobility of commuter became a topic in the Austrian public. Objective of the project is to enhance the background knowledge about commuter mobility behaviour and to figure the connections and feedbacks between essential mobility parameters as well as societal influencing factors and commuter traffic. Based on this knowledge existing technological innovations will be analysed on market potentials as well as demands on new technological innovations will be derived.
