On the spot event recognition with mini camera modules and communication via robust building automation networks
01.04.2010 - 31.03.2012
Research funding project
Networked miniSPOT (miniSPOT.net) is tailored to the needs of command and control centers and will show the feasibility of a concept which automatically identifies on-the-spot incidents relevant to security and safety such as unauthorized intrusion, spread of water, fire or smoke by using low-cost mini camera modules (<1 EUR) and digital signal processors (<10 EUR) Moreover the visual information is in the case of an event further transferred to the command and control center by means of robust and highly economic control networks for building automation systems. Operators of the command and control centre, likewise those of the project partner Hel-Wacht, are then able to easily validate, judge and react on specific events pointed out by the networked miniSPOT system. The results of the project are manifold and can be used for various security relevant infrastructures such as scientific, finance, health or public administration buildings. Further industrial buildings of utility companies or constructions in the food and beverage sector can easily be equipped with such a system, as they usually already maintain a high degree of building automation infrastructure.
