Permeation Grouting

01.01.2012 - 01.03.2016
Forschungsförderungsprojekt

Permeation grouting is a method, which is used to improve the quality of granular soils with low effort of energy and resources. In this procedure a low viscosity grout (cement, ultrafine cement or chemical solutions like sodium silicate...) is permeating the pores of the soil without changing the soil structure. To ensure the quality of the injection work, standards and methods for testing the grout and the permeated soil, with regard to quality and characteristic soil parameters are needed. In the absence of such methods, permeation grouting is as a consequence not often considered to be an alternative method for soil improvement, despite the economical and ecological benefits. With the combination of in-situ field tests and laboratory tests, this research project aims to improve the level of knowledge for permeation grouting. This project gives the construction industry and the planners: -Laboratory testing methods and procedures for grout suitability and quality control -Methods and laboratory tests to determine characteristic soil parameters from the injected soil body -Correlations for indirect exploration methods (dynamic probing tests, CPT, pressuremeter tests...) with characteristic soil parameters
