The online planning tool "NIKK - Infrastructure Cost Calculator" was developed by the State of Lower Austria (Department of Spatial Planning and Transport Affairs) and TU Wien (Public Finance and Infrastructure Policy) in cooperation with the State of Carinthia (Department of Spatial Planning). It enables the estimation of the long-term municipal fiscal impacts of settlement developments (residential, mixed-use, and commercial areas) in municipalities in the federal states of Lower Austria and Carinthia.

The aim of this research project is the technical and empirical further development of the NIKK system (web application), in particular the municipality-specific differentiation and updating of the comprehensive parameters and benchmarks of the calculation model.
