Auftragsforschungsprojekt
Snow-Climate, Society and Economy in Central and Eastern Europe. Two project meetings with were organised in 2006. Most project participants were present at both meetings. The first meeting was held in April in Austria, the second one in November in Slovakia. Except discussions on concrete project goals among project participants, both meetings were also connected with networking with other local professionals (seminar at Technical University Vienna, International Poster Day at Institute of Hydrology SAS in Bratislava). Thus, the preliminary results of the project were communicated to wider scientific community [2]. The project revolves around the following main tasks: 1. Creation of database of snow, climatic, hydrological and economic data 2. Parameterization of snow structure in the local snow model 3. Application of snow classification in a Global Circulation Model (GCM) 4. Numerical experiments with the GCM model and provision of outputs (baseline, climatic scenarios) for local models 5. Assessment of impacts of snow on hydrological and economical phenomena.
