The European supercomputer LEONARDO, hosted and managed by CINECA and installed in the new data center located in the Technopole in Bologna, is one of the three EuroHPC Joint Undertaking pre-exascale systems. LEONARDO is a significant step forward in raising European research in the field of computational sciences. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the European presence in high-performance computing (HPC), a strategic asset to promote the technological growth of the member states of the Union.
The continuous demand for computational resources requires providing researchers with increasingly high-performance technologies. In addition, high-level technical and engineering support for the user's communities is needed.
The six countries of the LEONARDO consortium (Italy, Austria, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia), which all boast a long and fruitful tradition in computational sciences, committed themselves to make their HPC expertise available by providing high-level support teams (HLST). The Austrian part of the LEONARDO HLST will work in close collaboration with the team of the Vienna Scientific Cluster and is located at the VSC Research Center of TU Wien.
