Kooperationsantrag - Energiemeteorologie für resiliente und smarte Energiegemeinschaften

11.03.2024 - 31.08.2025
Forschungsförderungsprojekt

The expansion of renewable energies required for the energy transition poses major challenges for grid infrastructure and planning. Renewable energy generation is dependent on various meteorological environmental influences and intelligent load and distribution planning is crucial in order to ensure an uninterrupted and low-loss supply of electricity and heat. The need for renewable energy sources such as PV systems, wind and hydroelectric power plants and their expansion potential is therefore being evaluated. The aim is to reduce losses and costs caused by electricity transportation and power peaks. The evaluation is based on UBIMET's high-resolution weather forecast model, which serves as the basis for dynamic reactions to weather conditions and energy potentials due to climatic and weather-related changes. On the TU Wien side, the established graphical simulation tool BIFROST is used for dynamic load distribution, which visualizes load flows and energy demand in smart grid scenarios for all user groups through a simulation.
