Financing the main roads B in Vienna

In the year 2002 the competence for the former federal highways B was transferred from the central government to the federal provinces. At the same time the transfer of funds for financing these so called "main roads B" to the federal provinces was determined by a law. This arrangement is valid till the year 2008, therefore a reorganization of the financing of the "main roads B" is to be negotiated. Based on a scientific analysis it is examined if (resp. which) arguments give reason for a further resp. increased financial participation of the federal government in the financing of the main roads B in Vienna. Furthermore elementary considerations on alternative financing of main streets B in Vienna are made, which form a basis for developing a financing concept. For this purpose a detailed analysis of the current and future (mid-term) road networks as well as its financing is accomplished.
