Assessment of Phasing Capabilities for Fiber-Optic Devices

01.10.2004 - 31.08.2007
Assigned research project
The objective of this activity is to investigate experimentally the properties and characteristics of optical fibers operating in the infrared spectral region (2 to 20 micrometer) in order to prepare a knowledge base to support instrument design studies in Earth Observation and Science. The first part of the activity deals with the identification of instrument opportunities for optical fibers, the specification of fiber parameters, a market survey of optical fibers and the assessment of instrument performances. The second part of the activity comprises the definition of a fiber characterisation programme, the procurement of fiber samples and test equipment, the preparation of the test setup, the execution of the test programme, and the assessment of the test results.
