Multimedia applications should be the driving force behind a successful employment of 3G mobile networks such as UMTS. The ftw- project examines now the possibilities of ¿Minimal-Optimal¿ IMS configuration regarding the architectural as well as the Quality of Service of aspects. The appropriate performance evaluations contain measurements with the help of an appropriate IMS Emulationsprototyps as well as dimensioning the UMTS of network based on Simulations with the help of functional IMS Traffic Generator (ITG), finally to provide a strategic framework for the successful introduction of IMS into existing mobile networks.¿
