Fixed Access Research 2021

01.03.2021 - 31.08.2021
Assigned research project

Aiming to increase data rates and improve service quality for their customers, DSL network operators are heavily deploying Vplus (VDSL2 35 MHz profile) and G.fast technologies in their networks. For A1 Telekom Austria (A1), it is very important to prequalify their customers correctly, since wrong prequalification leads to unhappy customers or loss of revenues due to the loss of customers.

The main focus of this project is to improve existing and develop new prequalification algorithms for Vplus and G.fast systems that can be integrated into A1 prequalification system. TU Wien will use the extensive prequalification knowledge build up in previous projects, e.g., FAR2020. TU Wien will design prequalification algorithms by using heuristic approach as well as by using machine learning methods.

The developed algorithms will be evaluated in A1 testbed and also by using exemplary field data provided by A1. TU Wien will refine the designed algorithms based on knowledge gained from field data evaluations. Furthermore, TU Wien will provide A1 guidelines how to use the developed algorithms and which are the pros and cons of each method.
