Energy optimization of industrial sites
01.01.2010 - 31.12.2012
Forschungsförderungsprojekt
The internal use of energy streams of an industrial site should be evaluated and improved. Further it is examined if the energy requirement in individual process steps can be lowered by applying alternative technologies. In addition the application of alternative energy resources is calculated at the selected industrial site. Abstract The opportunities of the energy optimization based on the Lyocell production of the company Lenzing-Fibres located in Heiligenkreuz, will be analysed and considered. The potential of possible heat integration in the plant will be using ¿Pinch analysis¿. Subsequently, by means of optimization tool a heat exchanger network for ¿grass-root¿ scenario and a so-called ¿Retrofit¿ for the existing plant will be suggested. In the next step the application of new technologies for individual process steps will be examined to evaluate whether these new technologies can reduce the energy requirement. Each new technology affects the potential of the heat integration in the complete system. Further the applying of alternative energy resources will be determined, in order to operate the plant more independent from fossil energy resources. Thereby, generating energy and electric power from these resources will be analysed. As result of the project, the potentials for the energy conservation will be determined by optimization of heat integration and changes in the applied technologies as well as using of renewable energy resources for the fibre industry.
