The research project ENUR (“Energie im urbanen Raum” - energy in urban space) deals with energy demand and requirements, consumer's behaviour, energy concepts and projects, scenarios and planning instruments in the context of spatial planning. Focus of this research is the spatial development of Austrian cities and towns in the context of energy supply and planning. ENUR develops answers and solutions on the following questions:
- What is the structure of the energy demand, compared among Austrian cities? Which are the consumption developments there?
- How much energy (heat, electricity, transport) can be saved -based on specific urban settlement features and their building types? Which estimations can be done for which survey scale?
- Which de-central renewable energy production systems fit best for planning goals like “the energy neutral city”? And which urban settlement types does it take where to succeed such goals?
- What disposition do consumers (households) have on energy costs and on energy-conscious behaviour (saving energy, renewable energies, efficient mobility and housing)?
- How can an effective urban energy policy help to achieve the “energy-conscious city” in a sense of sustainable developments?
