Changes in Productivity and the Dollar-Euro Exchange Rate

The aim of this project is to analyze the influence of the productivity on the Dollar ¿ Euro exchange rate. Beside the productivity there are a lot other fundamentals (interest rates, current account, budget deficit, ¿) variables which are expected to determine the exchange rate. We also want to take a close look on those variables. Existing theoretical models are the basis for a new formal description of the exchange rate. The empirical relevance of some existing models shall be proved and extended (reformulated) during this project. Another important topic is to analyse the reasons for different developments in the productivity of an economy (or industry). Beside enormous expenditures in information- and communication technologies there are a lot of further factors which have an impact on the productivity.
