The (already finished) research project ZENEM showed the - under certain conditions -
feasibility of switching Viennese taxis from the current radio taxi operation to an e-taxi
operation.
The specific implementation of those findings shall be prepared now within the exploratory
study ‚E-Taxi in Vienna‘ (phase 1) to get going electric taxis in Vienna soon. Organisational,
technical and economic requirements which have yet to be clarified will be part of that
project. The development of long-term sustainable business cases has to be stressed out.
Taxis shall be positioned as costumer-oriented, environmentally friendly partner and
pioneering service supplementing classical short-range public transport by use of electric
motorisation.
