Dynamic Simulation for the Optimization of Space and Space Management at the Schools for Architecture and Civil Engineering at Vienna University of Technology

10.03.2008 - 31.12.2010
Proprietary project
Discrete Event Simulation (DEVS) has been used for a long time in prodution und logistic systems., and in some other areas of resource mangement. Planning and resource management for facilty management and room allocation is a new application area for DEVS. The project dynospace, an internal project of Vienn University of Technology (TU Vienna) , checks features and advantages of dynamic discrete simulation for dynamic resource planning and dynamic lecture room allocation for the buliding Karlsplatz of TU Vienna, based on curricula for civil engineering and architecture. For simulation, the DEVS simulator ED - Enterprise Dynamics is used, the models are automatically generated from adminstration data of TU Vienna. 'dynospace' is a joint project of GUT - Dev. 'Gebäude und Technik' (G. Hodecek), Inst. for Analysis and Scientific Computing - Mathematical Modelling and Simulation (F. Breitenecker), and Inst. for 'Städtebau, Landschaftsarchitektur und Entwerfen' - Project Development and Project Planning (D. Wiegand).
