Differential Equation Models in Science and Engineering

Research funding project
Modelling and simulation based on differential equations is an essential tool in science and engineering. On the other hand, efforts towards an analytical understanding and a numerical solution of differential equations belong to the most important driving forces in the development of mathematics. Typical key qualifications for young researchers in this field are the flexibility to adapt their methods, to apply them to a broad range of problems, and the ability to interact with colleagues outside the field of their PhD thesis. The structure of the WK is hence intentionally not focussed on one narrow field, but comprises a range of theoretical and applied subjects that are linked by a common methodology and scientific language.
