Data Analysis and Reporting in WIreless Networks
01.04.2010 - 30.09.2011
Research funding project
The project is meant to advance the monitoring technology for the METAWIN system along three main directions: -Extend to 4G: LTE/SAE interfaces - Increase system scalability - Advance the monitoring principle beyond purely passive techniques towards integration of passive and active techniques - Extend protocol analysis capabilities. These high-level goals are reflected in four research work-packages (WP). The project objectives are - To extend the scope of traffic monitoring to 4G (LTE), limited to the Core Section (SAE), and in particular to the interfaces attached to the eNodeB towards eMME and e-SGW. - To study innovative HW/SW concepts to scale up the performance of the system in terms of monitoring rate, query response time and storage capacity as needed to cope with the projected magnitude of volume/rate of monitored data in the near future (grown already by more than one order of magnitude with respect to the initial deployment). - To explore novel concepts for combining passive monitoring with active measurement techniques in support of quality assurance. - To develop novel methods to identify anomalies and network problems, in support of network operation and troubleshooting.
