The study examines the spatial impact of the (Austrian) financial equalization system, taking into account the specific interactions with climate change and climate protection as well as land consumption and urban sprawl. In particular, the following topics are dealt with:
- architecture and instruments of financial equalization,
- fiscal effects of spatial development,
- dimensions and theoretical approaches to the spatial impact of the financial equalization,
- spatially relevant indicators for land and resource consumption,
- planning systematics and instruments in spatial planning,
- interactions between spatial development and climate change and climate protection,
- analysis of the ÖREK 2030 with regard to spatially relevant instruments of financial equalization.
