Characterization of NbTi strands for the ITER PF coils

In accordance with item 4, Supplement number 4 to the Agreement for the delivery of the NbTi strands for the ITER magnet system (Procurement Arrangement 1.1.P6C.RF.01.0 ANNEX B (2009)) for the total strand characterization it is necessary to perform measurements of the critical current in magnetic fields from 4 to 8 T and in the temperature range from 3.5 to 8 K. These measurements should be performed in a reference laboratory, defended by ITER. Taking into account the experience of Vienna Atominstitut in such investigations and the availability of the necessary equipment, the following agreement has been made: ATI shall perform the measurements of 2 samples of NbTi strands produced by the Bochvar Institue, which were delivered to ATI earlier. The detailed program of measurements is agreed between both institutes. The results of the measurements made by ATI will be sent to the Bochvar Institute as a report.
