B (PRO-SFA) Product oriented waste characterization

01.10.2008 - 31.10.2010
Auftragsforschungsprojekt
The first objective of the project is to determine the relevant and (still) unknown sources/entry paths of the metals Al, Pb, Hg and Cd in products and product groups in selected relevant main waste-fractions (e.g. plastics, metals, special waste etc.) of the municipal solid waste. The contribution of substance flow in these products/product groups to the substance flows in the selected main waste fractions and/or the entire municipal solid waste are to be determined. The aim of the project is also to answer open questions from recent projects dealing with this topic and to reduce uncertainties of actual results of knowledge by using the new analysis-results of the proposed project. The second goal of the project is to propose and evaluate efficient measures to reduce hazardous substance inputs into municipal solid waste (waste prevention) by using the analysis-results of the proposed project. The third objective of the project is to define measures to optimize the monitoring concept for product oriented substance flow analysis of MSW in the future. Another focus of the project is to develop an appropriate methodology to deal with similar issues in the future (definition of guidelines/manual).
