Ms. Kohlmayer's task during the four weeks of her internship will be to design, print, coat and then test suitable 3D objects. These objects should have variable heights and thicknesses in order to test the applicability of various 3D printing materials (such as ABS, PLA, PETG, ASA, nylon or HIPS) in the sputtering systems. Sputtering produces plasma, the heat of which can deform the objects. The quality of the coating is tested by means of tensile tests. In this way, Ms. Kohlmayer learns how to use a CAD program (design phase), practical work on the 3D printer (with different materials), coating with metal (plasma physics) and material tests.
The work is accompanied scientifically by Dr. Gyula Nagy and supervised by Prof. Gebeshuber. The work is feasible for a student of her education in these 4 weeks.
