Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to systematically develop technical products based on given requirements and then further develop them into a finished end product or series product.

Subject of course

Basic knowledge about different methods for development of products, techniques to promote creativity, specific methods like System Engineering, engineering method basing on the VDI-scheme, TRIZ-Method, WOIS-Method, Ideals Concept, Value Analyses Engineering, ABC-Analysis, working with design catalogues, Quality Function Deployment etc. Measures to shorten the time for developing a new product (Simultanous Engineering, Concurrent Engineering, Rapid Prototyping), safety, reliability and availability, quality Assurance during designwork itselve and as precaution and postulations for fabrication, development of product series.

 

Teaching methods

Discussion of the different product development methods.
