Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to create functional, material-appropriate, production-oriented and load-compliant designs of machine components and they are able to realise a proof of strength.

Subject of course

  • Manufacturing oriented design (machining, cast design, welded connections)

  • Strength calculation (materials, basic knowledge about stresses, causes of component failure, proof of strength according to the FKM guideline

  • Selected machine elements (roller bearings, screws, springs)

Teaching methods

Discussion of design examples, calculation of practice examples.
