The course will be held from May 23rd until June 3rd, 2016.

3) Kuhn and Scientific Revolutions
4) Falsificationism
5) Anarchist Theories of Science
6) The Postmodernist Challenge
7) Metamathematics and Metacomputation
8) Building Artificial Minds
9) Introduction to Metaethics
10) Students' choice of subject
Seminars:
Each student needs to attend at least 9 seminars. The initial seminar will be a chance for general discussion but in the subsequent seminars we will try to have a focussed discussion on a specific topic or topics - initiated by a short presentation by a student. It would be a good idea to choose a subject area before the course starts, so that the presenters for the second seminars have more than 24 hours to prepare.

Assessment:
Each student will need to produce 2 pieces of work by the end of the course.
1) A short seminar presentation of about 15-20 minutes intended to start a discussion.
2) A short paper (1,500 to 3,000 words)
This is a Fundamental PhD Course of the Faculty of Informatics for doctoral students.
Doctoral students in Computer Science have admission priority to this course.
